Think of it from his persceptive, you made it through a fortress of confusing mazes and puzzles. (Which is why they're all up and about when you complete the journey a short while later.) So it seems very likely that our poor injured Villein friend was in-fact showing you Joseph deliberately and probably also initiated the pod revival process (and locked the door) once you destroy the bomb. (Though how he knows you've gone and looked at the correct pod is beyond me!) I was confused about the significance of Josef's pod and how that opened the door, though, and now I do recall the Villein making some vocalizations when you return. So what exactly was the ruse supposed to accomplish? I was expecting to have to actually call the bluff at some point, but it was never necessary. When you finally make it to the pod area, the impostor apparently attacks with other Mofang and the Villein and Mofang basically take one another out. (It's never clear where or how you're supposed to 'rescue' the impostor Mofang.) By simply following the only pathway forward available to you, he appears a final time (on the projector) acting like you've somehow done something he didn't want you to do.

He first acts like he's being trapped and wants you to free him. That being said, the fake-Josef's whole storyline doesn't seem to jive. There's definitely a firefight as you're coming in on the railway, you can see red and blue explosions over the buildings. This probably deserves spoiler tags, but that actually explains at least part of this sequence to me that hadn't clicked! I think you're right. Telltale Mofang imager fuzz in the transmission (over Villein tech), clearly struggling to form English sentences when the Josef from the earlier recordings just had an accent, unlikely story that didn't track with anyone else's so far. Originally posted by wervyn:As I interpreted the whole sequence of events in Maray: The Josef that shows up near the beginning was clearly an impostor. My speculation is he wanted to make a case for himself the Mofang disguised as Josef is right outside the door, and he wanted to be sure I didn't jump to the conclusion that he'd killed a human.

I believe he wanted me to see that Josef was still in his pod after doing that, he vocalized a command to open the door. I concluded that the Villein interfaced with the monitors there to provide that number (remember they can vocalize commands to their tech, in sound ranges that are mostly below human hearing). Getting down to the chamber pods, I noticed that there's an injured Villein trapped under some rubble, and I remembered some pew-pew sounds as the pod I was riding approached. There was smoke coming out of it though.Īs I interpreted the whole sequence of events in Maray: The Josef that shows up near the beginning was clearly an impostor. I knew fromt he way he talked and the red glitchy stuff he was not human. In the beginning there are describing all the aliens and one of them describes them as being able to impersonate humans. The Joseph on the video screens during your jungle travels? Or it's was not Joseph but that dead mofang disguised as he? If so why he asked for help under the guise of Joseph? I helped him somehow when I arrived? I didn't understand that episode at all. When I complete everything there I went back and saw that the door is closed and I can't go there at all. I came back and saw that the door is opened (just because I found correct pod?) and I passed through it. I found his pod but I could not do anything with it.
